Worship Ministry

Mission Statement

We desire to bring the congregation  into an authentic spiritual connection with God through focused worship and thoughtful reflection on Christ.  We desire to plan and execute an experience  that helps to fulfill the Church’s mission of making disciples of Christ. We are dedicated to facilitate an atmosphere that is conducive to an intimate encounter with the Holy Spirit.

Ministry Vision

Our vision is to create an experience and atmosphere  that encourages everyone to express their love of Christ through worship.  We want our worship to help us focus on being in the presence and throne room of God.

Ministry  Responsibilities
  1. Song Service:
Our song service for Porter Church of Christ will deliver an outstanding and consistent worship service that is upbeat and focused on telling the gospel story.

  2. Communion Thoughts and Preparation:
Communion will direct our hearts and minds to Christ’s sacrifice and will remind us to celebrate the new covenant we have in Christ.

  3. Scripture Readings:
Scripture readings and prayers will point us to God’s word, and reinforce the message that will be shared in worship.  The scripture readings purpose is to bring the words on a page to life for the audience. Prayers will be used for the congregation to collectively speak to God.

  4. AV Room:
Team members who work in the AV room have quite possibly the most critical job of this team.  Our goal is to have a streamlined worship experience that does not distract from our worship.  When you perform your duties well, no one will ever know you exist…..that’s how we like it, incognito.

Cycles of Service

Worship Ministry Team members will serve in monthly increments. (ex. Each Sunday in January) Team members will be  reminded of their assigned weeks prior to their assigned month.  There will be quarterly meetings to review our ministry efforts and welcome in new team members.
