Les's Mission Trip

4 Amigos leaning on their shovels (Just taking a minute out from mixing concrete for a picture)

Our "Home base" church building. It says "Here meets the Church of Christ, Romans 16:16", In our parlance, "the Church of Christ meets here".

An area bus. This pic was taken at 6:15 in the morning. Its horn sounded like a train whistle. If you weren't woken up by the sun, you were woken up by the bus.

A Honduran washing machine.

The building at Las Delicias. It says "Welcome to the church of Christ". At the top of the pic is a propane lantern; this building had no electricity.

One of many "cattle drives" we saw. We had to share the road with cattle many times during the week.

Bro. Mike Phillips giving an eye exam to a local. I learned a lot about patience from this man.

Kids playing futbol in the park.

A local home to which we delivered children's underwear.

Left to right, Shannon DeShazo, M.D., Cirrie Phillips, Mike Phillips, O.D., and John Hendry, our jefe (boss) for the week.

A very beautiful tree outside one of the churches we visited.

The lecturn used at the church in Pacura.

Local kids in Pacura. They were very excited about seeing themselves on camera.

A "poster" on the wall in Pacura. It reads "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Rom. 5:8)

Shannon listening during her surveys of locals concerning medical treatments, medicines, clinics, &c. The preacher in Pacura, Santos, is in the red shirt on her left.

Mike and Cirrie setting up shop for the eye exams.

Sadly, this happened too frequently. Here John is telling a local that his eyesight is too bad for Mike to fix with glasses. If memory serves, this man had cataracts and was close to blindness.

This was at the top of a hill next to an empty Catholic church building. Four of us had a very peaceful time up here for about 30 minutes.

The inside of the building in Gualaco, our hometown.

A mural of our outside wall. "Water of Life Mission". Name based off of John 7:38 - "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said 'From his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water'".

Hermano Juan preaching the Word in a Sunday afternoon worship service.

Local ninos.

A pretty tree.

A slice of the Hendry's farm. Produced here is coffee and bananas. This August the banana trees will be removed and dairy cows will take their place.
